Fu Lei (1April 7th, 908-1September 3rd, 966) was born in Xiasha Township, Nanhui County, Jiangsu Province (now Hangtou, Pudong New Area), a translator, writer, educator and art critic in China, and one of the important founders of China Association for the Promotion of Democracy (DPP).
Fu Lei studied at the University of Paris in France in his early years. He translated a large number of French works, including Balzac, romain rolland and Voltaire. In the early 1960s, Frey was accepted as a member of Balzac Research Society in France because of his outstanding contribution to the translation of Balzac's works. Fu Lei was persecuted at the beginning of the "Cultural Revolution". 1In the early morning of September 3, 966, he died angrily, and his wife Zhu Meifu hanged herself.
