Commitment: Start over.
When we were young, we cared about everything our parents told us, especially their promises to us. Parents' promises to us will make us ecstatic and full of expectations. But a real commitment is very different from just saying it. Commitment is something that must be done.

The difference between God and man is that God's promise to us is a promise. He is a faithful god and will come true. However, human beings often regard promises as just words. We will tell ourselves and others about the promises we can't keep. I was just talking at first. The speaker has no intention, just listens attentively. When we are young, if we don't live up to our parents' promises, we will be disappointed in our parents and even stop expecting them.

The most terrible thing for people is to lose the heart of expectation. When we no longer believe in promises, our hearts will be cold. We are not interested in anything. As the saying goes, without hope, there is no disappointment. But I would rather be disappointed than lose hope. When you want others to expect, when expectation turns into extravagant hope, when extravagant hope turns into disappointment, it is the most difficult process.

Look at the book "Self-control", which mentions the substance dopamine. When the human reward mechanism works, it will secrete this substance and make us want it. When we face other people's promises to us, we will produce such a dopamine, which makes us look forward to it. The process of expectation is the most exciting for us, and commitment is a reward mechanism for us.

If a person grows up in an environment of dishonesty for a long time, he will no longer value his promise, and his promise to others will become empty talk. When we are no longer responsible for what we have said, we are actually not responsible for our own life. At first, I didn't believe in myself, because every time we promised others or our own things, we couldn't do it, so we no longer felt trust.

Today's practice made me deeply reflect. I can't do what I promised myself, and I can't stick to it. Every time I set a goal, I finally give up, and I am more and more afraid of commitment and responsibility. ...

Seeing the Jews in the scripture, they openly admit their beliefs and are determined to be a person who abides by the law. The baptism more than a year ago was also my public recognition of God, and baptism was a major turning point in my life. In the past, my faith was still superficial. I believe in God, but I am afraid to be a true Christian and obey the law. I am afraid that faith will make me lose my freedom, and I am not in my own life.

Up to now, I still clearly remember discussing faith with a girl in psychology in Dunhuang. At that time, I said I believed in God, but I was afraid of baptism. She smiled and said, "People really can't want everything, and in the end they can't get anything. What's the point of faith if you don't have the courage to openly admit it? " Her words gave me a blow.

The highest state of faith is to lay down one's life. Jesus laid down his life for man, but what about man? Can we also give up our physical life for our own beliefs and let our hearts have eternal life to defend God? Want everything, and in the end, you really can't get anything.

Maybe in the past, I really couldn't make many promises to myself and was disappointed in myself. However, on the road of faith, I am no longer vague. Now, I know where my mission is, and I know that I came to this world to glorify God. I bravely admit that I am a Christian and am proud of my faith. Because God is faithful and reliable, may everyone exalt your name, and may your kingdom come. I am willing to entrust myself to wear it. Give your life to the Lord, thank and praise God.

The rest, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinines, and all those who have freed their neighbors from the law of God, and their wives and children who have knowledge and understanding.

They all followed their noble brothers and vowed to keep all the commandments, laws and regulations preached by Yahweh our Lord through his servant Moses.

At the beginning of this chapter, the names of Nehemiah and other leaders (1~27) are listed respectively, and they all signed this public agreement. In addition to the leaders, notable signers include: "The rest, priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, Nethinines, and all those who have freed their neighbors from God's law, as well as their wives and children, all of whom have knowledge and can understand" (28). From this list, we can find some new Jews, which is rare in the Old Testament.

If we understand this Covenant with God from a personal point of view, it is not a vague Covenant, but an absolute and clear Covenant: "It is better than keeping all the commandments, laws and regulations of the Lord, our Lord". When these people who have already believed in the Lord and those who have just joined Judaism sign the contract, it becomes effective and binding, and everyone should abide by any details of the contract.

From the public's point of view, this is a public declaration about individuals, just like the baptism of Protestantism. This is a public statement that anyone who knows the contents of the agreement will immediately become a witness to the signatories on the list and have the responsibility to be their supervisor. Therefore, this is not only a general public announcement, but also a public admission that you are committed to the Lord God. It is conceivable that this is a very weighty list, and everyone who signs it is quite determined to be a law-abiding person.

In modern society, "contract" is a legally binding document, and both parties to the contract are guaranteed and bound by the terms. This is a serious document. However, people's commitment to God is often easy to "promise to eat lettuce" and ignore it. Just like the previous chapters, God is faithful. He won't break his word, and he won't go against everything he promised us. Since God values this Covenant so much, how much do you value it? You can write down your commitment to God, remind yourself of your commitment to God at any time, and re-value your relationship with God.
