1. Li Gongpu - July 1946
Li Gongpu, born in Huai'an, Jiangsu, is a famous social educator and early leader of the Democratic League. He was assassinated by Kuomintang agents in Kunming on July 11, 1946. He bled to death the next day. To this day, there are relics of the place where Li Gongpu was martyred in Kunming.
2. Yang Jie—September 1949
Yang Jie, a native of Dali, Yunnan, of the Bai ethnic group, graduated from the Japanese Army University, a military strategist, and a general of the National Revolutionary Army. In his early years, he was favored by Chiang Kai-shek and assisted Chiang in winning the Central Plains War. Later, he served as the president of Army University and other positions. Because he was leaning toward revolution and instigating rebellion against Yunnan party and government officials, Chiang Kai-shek ordered sanctions against Yang Jie. On September 19, Yang Jie was assassinated by Kuomintang agents in Hong Kong.
3. Yang Xingfo—June 1933
Yang Xingfo, a native of Qingjiang, Jiangxi, was a social activist and a pioneer in management science. In 1932, he organized the China Civil Rights Protection League with Soong Ching Ling and others, and actively rescued progressives and communists, which aroused the hatred of Chiang Kai-shek. On June 18, 1933, when Yang Xingfo and his son Yang Xiaofo were driving out, they were ambushed and shot dead by Kuomintang agents on Yalpe Road in Shanghai.
4. Wen Yiduo - July 1946
Wen Yiduo, a native of Xishui, Hubei Province, is a famous scholar and poet, an early leader of the China Democratic League, and a former professor at Southwest Associated University. A good friend of the Communist Party. On July 15, 1946, he was assassinated by Kuomintang agents in Kunming, four days after Li Gongpu was assassinated. According to analysis, Chiang Kai-shek did not know about the assassination of Li and Wen in advance, and it was the people below who "acted for it".
5. Zhang Xiaolin - August 1940
Zhang Xiaolin, a native of Cixi, Zhejiang, was the leader of the old Shanghai Youth Gang. Together with Huang Jinrong and Du Yuesheng, he was known as the "Three Tycoons of Shanghai". After the Anti-Japanese War broke out and Shanghai fell, Zhang Xiaolin became a traitor and committed all kinds of evil. Chiang Kai-shek instructed Dai Li to punish Zhang Xiaolin. On August 14, 1940, Zhang Xiaolin was shot to death at his home in Shanghai by his bodyguard Lin Huaibu.
