Longping devoted himself to the research, application and popularization of hybrid rice technology, invented the "three-line method" indica hybrid rice, successfully studied the "two-line method" hybrid rice and established the technical system of super hybrid rice. The "Three Crops and Four High Yields Project" was put forward and implemented, and 6 monographs and more than 60 papers were published in Chinese and English by using the technical achievements of super hybrid rice.
On the morning of April 2, 2022, in memory of Academician Yuan Longping, the statue of Academician Yuan Longping was completed in Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Sanya plans to hold the unveiling ceremony of the bronze statue of Academician Yuan Longping at Yuan Longping Memorial Park in Haitang District on the morning of May 22nd 10.
On May 20th, 2022, the commemoration of the death anniversary of Academician Yuan Longping, the "father of hybrid rice", was held in Hunan Agricultural University. Academician Yuan Longping's wife Deng and her son attended the commemorative activities together. Deng Ze and Zou, president of Hunan Agricultural University, unveiled Longping Building.
On September 7th, 2022, China modern scientist-Yuan Longping commemorative stamp was issued.
