The Architectural Process of San Francisco Art Palace
This antique Roman relic building was designed by Maybeck (1862- 1957), an architect who was born in new york and lives in Berkeley. The design of the Art Palace is mainly to show the world a spectacular visual beauty. The Art Palace was the main building that started construction at that time, and 1965438+ was completed. The Art Palace is mainly a dome-shaped hall with arches and columns. When building the Art Palace, engineers used some simple building materials (a mixture of gypsum and fiber) because it was only a temporary building for hosting the World Expo. On the Art Preservation Day in June of 19 15, supporters of the Art Palace collected 33,000 signatures, raised 350,000 dollars to rebuild the Art Palace and used permanent building materials. The Art Palace, which should have been demolished, was kept under the opposition of San Francisco residents.
