It’s probably less than a year since I became a ‘mold fan’, or I’m not sure whether it counts as a fan. After all, I have never gone to a concert, nor bought a record, nor will I refresh her Weibo every day.
But I do like her and her songs.
There are 136 songs on the phone, 106 of which are hers. During these more than 300 days, it played in an infinite loop, and gradually I could hum along with it. And, that makes me happy.
It should start with the song "Blank Space", with the slightly gorgeous MV, so cynical and hysterical, but also full of sincerity. It finally turned into-but I got a blank space baby, and I'll write your name.
Then it started like "I Knew You Were Trouble", "22", "You Belong With Me", "Shake it Out", "Ours"... coupled with their MVs, they formed a long period of time for me in 2016.
I like a lot of English songs, but most singers only have one or two, and few of them keep me listening for a long time.
Taylor was definitely a surprise. I was thinking that maybe it was because of her youth, vitality, and sincerity that she sang into people's hearts. Some people may not like her, but that has nothing to do with me.
In Vogue's 73-question interview with Taylor, the reporter asked Taylor: what do you think when you Google yourself? Taylor replied: I think I should never Google myself again. In the 1989 Sydney concert " Before the song "Clean" started to be performed, Swift also said something: ?
you know these days there are millions of ways for people to tell you.
how to be , how to act in public. what's cool, what's not. what's beautiful, what's not.
and it's really easy to become completely preoccupied by the idea of ??trying to be cool.
you know what I think is better than being cool? it's being happy.
you know when somebody criticize you or say something behind your back.
these words they say about you, is like you feel those words are written all over your face, all over you.
and then, those words start to become the echo of your own mind.
and then, there is a real risk those words could become a part of how you see yourself.
the moment you realize who doesn't know you or care about you.
that moment when you realize that it's like you are clean.
This is not a deliberate encouragement, but you can get strength from it. This is the magic of her.
You can feel her sincerity from her lyrics and her voice. Her songs are like her diary, in which all her impulses, sweetness, anger, wishes, and emotions are reflected. It's like those songs are meant to be sung to your own heart, not the world.
It's just a bit contradictory that I can't choose which one of her songs is my favorite. Every song has been a favorite of mine at different times.
The calm voice in "never grow up" sang: so here I am in new apartment big city they just dropping you off. so much colder? than i thought it would be, so i tuck myself in turn my light on…wish i never grown up You seem to see yourself fighting alone away from home, everywhere is so cold, you can only miss the past to keep warm. I hope I never grow up, this is the wish of every grown up person.
"You are in love" is plain, without even the romance of roses. It is said gracefully, like a whisper in the ear, but it makes people have the urge to fall in love. So sweet, one look dark room, meant just for you...
"tear drops on my guitar" is like really crying, playing the guitar and singing that the person you have a crush on will never be I know the song. so I drive home alone, as i turn off the light, i put his picture down or maybe get some sleep tonight... Are we also in secret love?
"22" is the most energetic age. With your favorite friend, you seem to be able to dance to her songs unconsciously. I don't know about you, but i'm feeling 22, everything will be alright if you just keep dancing like we're 22... Let us live in this year forever.
There are many more.
Tear drops on my guitar and you belong with me. Then, you are in love. But I knew you were trouble so I have a blank space. And one day these begin again.
I hope Swift will find her sense of security one day soon, and hope such sincere songs will never stop.
