Introduction: Recently, due to work reasons, I need to know about the certification of magnetic hospitals, so I checked some information and hereby share it for your study and discussion.
magnetic hospital was put forward by American scholar McClure in 1981 and published in 1983. It refers to a hospital that can attract professional nurses like a magnet, reduce the turnover rate of nurses, have a high-quality nursing staff and provide high-quality nursing services even under the situation of serious shortage of nurses.
ANA (American Nurses Association) and ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) established a nationwide project to improve quality nursing service in 1992, namely "magnetic certification project", and hospitals that passed magnetic certification were called "magnetic hospitals".
The development of magnetic hospital has a history of more than 3 years. The development process can be divided into four periods: ①1983-1989 was the period of primitive magnetic hospital; ②1989-1993 was the standard period of magnetic gold; ③ The development period of nursing quality is from 1993 to now; ④ From 1994 to now, it is the period of ANCC magnetic certification project.
Evaluation criteria
The initial evaluation must meet the following criteria: (1) Nurses think the hospital is a good place to work; (2) The hospital has the ability to supplement and retain professional nurses, and its index is low turnover rate; (3) Hospitals have the advantages of competing with other medical institutions for nurses; (4) The members of the Society met with nursing managers and nursing staff. Ask the following questions: What makes your hospital a good place for nurses to work? Can you tell me a detailed plan to achieve professional and personal satisfaction in your position? Can you tell the goal of nursing quality? Can you combine the actual operation with the planning procedure and improve it? Can you tell me about the relationship between nurses and doctors in your hospital? Please describe all nursing staff and managers, including interpersonal relationships at different levels. What is your nursing philosophy and why? Is it more successful than other hospitals in adding and retaining staff? Why? Will you give advice to nursing leaders on reducing the turnover rate of nurses?
McClure and others put forward 14 magnetic standards, including: (1) quality of nursing management; (2) organizational structure; (3) management structure; (4) personnel policies and plans; (5) nursing mode; (6) quality of care; (7) quality improvement; (8) Consulting and resources; (9) autonomy; (1) community nursing; (11) Nurses are also teachers; (12) Nursing image; (13) Interdisciplinary relations; (14) Nursing professional development.
Later Kramer and Schmalenbei put forward eight magnetic elements: (1) competent clinical nurses; (2) Good doctor-patient relationship and communication; (3) ca sovereignty and responsibility of nurses; (4) Support of nursing management; (5) Control and management of nursing service and nursing service environment; (6) Support of nursing education; (7) A sufficient number of nurses; (8) The concept of patient first.
Certification procedure
First, log on to the website of ANCC to learn about the relevant contents, and then self-evaluate the nursing environment and the preparation of magnetic certification application according to the Scope and Standards of Nurse Management published by ANA and the Handbook of Magnetic Introduction and Application Procedure published by ANCC, and then form an official document (English) and submit the application and certification documents that meet the magnetic standards to the Magnetic Procedure Office.
The organizing committee of magnetic procedures in American nursing centers forwarded the submitted applications to the reviewers-most of them are nurses who are still in nursing posts, and they have all received the evaluation training of magnetic procedures. The assessor's work is completely independent, and each performance check has a scoring standard. When the nursing service of the medical institution reaches the standard, the assessor scores according to the magnetic standard.
if each reviewer's score exceeds the minimum score of the magnetic standard, the reviewer will conduct on-site investigation. On-the-spot investigation in 2 ~ 3 days includes meeting with nursing administrators, all nurses, patients and other relevant personnel, and also providing public forums to display application materials in public places, with the purpose of verifying document information and obtaining first-hand information about nursing environment.
The organizing committee will vote whether to grant the status of the magnetic hospital according to the evaluation report and the recommendation letter of the assessor. All the evaluation and application procedures will take about 1-12 weeks, and the accreditation period will be 4 years. During this period, the nursing service institution will submit an annual monitoring report, and it will have to be re-accredited after 4 years. Although re-evaluation requires fewer documents, the evaluation procedures and standards are still the same.
after obtaining the magnetic hospital certification, each nurse was awarded a magnetic badge.
When I attended the first international conference of specialized nurses in 216, I was lucky enough to listen to a speech with the theme of "magnet: journey to nursing Excellence", and I was deeply impressed. So I came back to find some information and made this PPT. It's just fur, but it's not enough to look at Haihan.
