As the first president of the Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen has a deep affection for the silk production which has a long history but is now in jeopardy. At the same time, he is also clearly aware of the only way for the traditional silk weaving industry to gain a new life. As early as June 1894, he said in the Book of Li Hongzhang in the Upper Boundaries: "If you are clever, all kinds of arts will flourish and production will flourish, while the military needs it and the people's livelihood will use it every day to make it precise, save financial resources and pretend that human resources are beyond the reach of adults." Especially pointed out: "If weaving is organic, millions of people can do the work in half a day. When it comes to reeling waste silk and weaving velvet, it will turn waste into treasure. " After the founding of the Republic of China, he specially set up a section of "Silk Industry" in his well-thought-out industrial plan, and proposed that "a silk factory should be set up to meet the needs at home and abroad". When the Republic of China was founded, the bourgeoisie carried out various activities of "revitalizing industry" and made various plans of "saving the country through industry", which was protected and advocated to a certain extent, forming an unsatisfactory investment environment. On the other hand, the silk industry in Jiangsu and Zhejiang gave more enthusiasm and care to the newly established Republic of China than in the Qing Dynasty. As a part of China's national bourgeoisie, Jiangsu and Zhejiang silk industrialists and businessmen have realized to some extent that their survival and development are closely linked with the future and destiny of the country. They said: "The rise and fall of the silk industry is not only related to China's finance, that is, the national economy and people's livelihood, but also greatly hindered. If we don't try to remedy as soon as possible and save our rights and interests, how can we imagine the future of China! " In their view, in order to safeguard this new Republic of China and "sweep away the hidden dangers of the Republic of China in the future", "I am afraid there is no second way except industry and saving foreign countries". They deeply felt that the traditional means of production and management were too backward, and they were keenly aware of the "shortage of wood-based indigenous silk weaving" and began to "think about remedial measures": (1) improving goods; (2) reduce the value; (3) publicize our compatriots, so that everyone has patriotic enthusiasm and uses domestic products. All three seem to be urgent. In this era of commercial warfare, the Republic of China is in the ascendant. If you don't change your plan and revitalize it as soon as possible, how can you be invincible?
