In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin, who had not yet proclaimed himself, led a great army to cross the sea. Cao Xian, a princess who can sing and dance well in the army, is beautiful as a flower. She accompanied Tang Wang to write poems and play chess all the way, which won Tang Wang's favor. However, Cao Fei, who was petite and weak, suffered a military attack and died of a serious illness.
Li Shimin ordered the ship to stop at the island where Cao Fei was buried in Luannan County, and ordered to build a three-story hall on the island, which contained a statue of Cao Fei and named it Caofeidian. Since then, Cao Fei has also been enshrined as a sea god, praying for peace at sea. Many fishermen came here to worship Cao Fei, and the incense in the hall flourished all the year round, so the island was named Caofeidian.
Extended data:
On the coast of Tangshan, Hebei Province, Cao Fei has become the common belief of fishermen, boatmen and businessmen in the northern coast, and there is even a saying that there is Mazu in the south and Cao Fei in the north. Tangshan, located in Bohai Bay, has a land area of nearly 2,000 square kilometers, which is equivalent to two Hong Kong, and is called Caofeidian area. Not only the whole area is named after Cao Fei, but also the lakes, wetlands and buildings here are mostly named after Cao Fei.
Sun Mengcheng, executive vice president of Caofeidian Cultural Research Association, recalled that grandpa fished in the waters near Caofeidian that year, and every time he went out to sea, he would go to Caofeidian to worship and pray for peace, as did most local fishermen.
