Gongtangcang Danbei Wangxu (1926-2000), Tibetan. The fiftieth color holder of Ganden Monastery in Tibet, the first of the four major color holders of Labrang Monastery, and the sixth Gongtangcang. People from Ruoergai, Sichuan. In 1932, he was designated as the Sixth Gongtangcang Living Buddha and was elected to Labrang Monastery in Xiahe, Gannan. He was one of the four great honors of Labrang Monastery. In 1935, he began to study at the Wensi College of Labrang Monastery. In 1944, he was awarded the title of "Geshe" " degree; in November of the same year, he was appointed abbot of Charlie Temple in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan. After liberation, Gongtangcang Living Buddha successively served as a member of the Sichuan Sichuan Tibetan Autonomous Region People's Government, vice chairman of the District Consultative Conference, and first deputy director of the District People's Government Supervisory Committee; in October 1952, he served as a special representative of the People's Congress of all ethnic groups in the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Region. ; In the ninth month of the lunar calendar in 1954, he went to Labrang Monastery to serve as the general dharma platform; in 1955, he was appointed as a member of the Gansu-Qingchuan Border Region Working Group of the State Council; in May of the same year, he was appointed as a member of the first committee of the Gansu Provincial CPPCC; in March 1956, he was appointed as a member of the Gannan Prefecture People's Committee ; In 1957, he was elected as a director of the Chinese Buddhist Association and vice president of the Gansu Buddhist Association.
From May 1958 to April 1979, Gongtangcang Living Buddha was unjustly imprisoned for 21 years. After being rehabilitated, he still actively participated in politics with his full patriotic enthusiasm and profound knowledge of Buddhism, and assisted the party and the government in implementing the policy of freedom of religious belief. Since August 1979, Gongtangcang Living Buddha has served as a member and standing committee member of the 4th Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and as vice chairman of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th committees; since December 1981, he has served as a member of the 5th, 6th and 8th CPPCC National Committees. Member of the 7th Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the 8th and 9th Committee; Vice President of the Gansu Buddhist Association from February 1980; Executive Director of the Buddhist Association of China in 1981; Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China from March 1987. Passed away on March 1, 2000 in Labrang Monastery, Xiahe County, Gansu Province, at the age of 75.
