Theodore dreiser (1871-1945), one of the pioneers of modern American novels and realistic writers, is also a naturalist. His works are close to people's lives, frank and bold, and full of passion for life.

Dreiser was born into a bankrupt family of small business owners in Indiana. I spent my childhood in misery and went to Chicago to make a living before graduating from high school. /kloc-entered Indiana university in 0/889 and dropped out again one year later. 1892, started his career as a journalist.
