The literature and art department of a student union or a society is generally responsible for organizing some literary and artistic activities of the school or society, such as singing competitions, literary evenings, recitation competitions, etc. Some of them will also be responsible for organizing the school chorus and dance team, and participate in the competition on behalf of the school.

The student union is one of the organizational structures of the present school, the students' own mass organization, and the bridge and link between the school and the students. It plays an important role in campus operation.

Significance: In Chinese mainland, the term student union refers to the member organizations of the All-China Federation of Students (hereinafter referred to as the National Federation of Students) in colleges and universities. Chapter 4 of the Constitution of the All-China Federation of Students describes "student union" and "student union members" as "student union and graduate student union are students' own mass organizations. All students in China, regardless of nationality, gender and religious beliefs, can be members of the Student Union and the Graduate Association ". With the guidance and help of the leaders of the school party organizations and youth league organizations, students in institutions of higher learning and senior middle schools will work independently in accordance with laws, school rules and regulations and their respective articles of association.

Institutional setup: there are generally two levels in colleges and universities: the school student union Committee and the department (department) student union Committee. Middle schools generally have two levels of student organizations: the school student union and the class student Committee (class Committee). Colleges and universities also have student committees at the department (department) level. The All-China Federation of Students, referred to as the China Federation of Students, is a joint organization of student unions established by universities all over the country. The General Student Union consists of Presidium, Secretariat, External Relations Department, Learning Department, Planning Department, Propaganda Department, Discipline Inspection Department, Literature and Art Department, Sports Department, Life Department, Interior Department, Women's Management Department, Health Department, Labor Department and Organization Department.

Plenary session: The plenary session of the Student Union is the highest authority of the Student Union, and its permanent body is the Presidium of the Student Union. The plenary meeting of the student union is held once a month to review the work of the presidium and ministries. At the request of the members of the plenary meeting, a special plenary meeting can be held in advance, but it must be supported by more than two thirds.
