1949 Around New Year's Day, the three major battles of Liaoshen, Huaihai and Ping Jin in the Liberation War ended in the victory of the People's Liberation Army. In order to win the China revolution and smash the plot of divide and rule between the United States and the Kuomintang, the CPC Central Committee put forward it in time. March on the Yangtze River, the slogan of liberating all China, and decided to set up the General Front Committee of the Battle of Crossing the River to be fully responsible for directing the Battle of Crossing the River. With the approval of the Central Committee, the General Front Committee of the Battle of Crossing the River is composed of Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, Su Yu and Tan Zhenlin, and Deng Xiaoping is the secretary of the General Front Committee. After careful consideration and repeated comparison, the General Front Committee accepted the suggestion of Ceng Xisheng, then secretary of the Northern Anhui Municipal Party Committee, and set its headquarters in Yaogang, Feidong, Hefei. After the General Front Committee entered Yaogang, it paid close attention to the situation of the struggle between the enemy and ourselves, coordinated the battle of crossing the river, commanded and coordinated the operations of various military groups, and formulated plans and personnel arrangements for taking over the Jiangnan New Area. In Yaogang, the General Front Committee drafted, reviewed and submitted many historic documents, orders and telegrams, such as the Implementation Outline of the Beijing-Shanghai-Hangzhou Campaign, the Instructions on Taking Over Cities in the South of the Yangtze River, and the Instructions on Rural Work in the New Area of the South of the Yangtze River.
In order to remember and learn from the great achievements of Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yi and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation,1In July 1985, the county party committee and county people's government decided to build a memorial hall for the former site of the General Front Committee of the Battle of Crossing the River. 1On July 3rd, 986, the Anhui Provincial People's Government listed the former site of the General Front Committee of Yaoganghe River Crossing Campaign as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit. 19961October 20th, the State Council listed it as a national key cultural relics protection unit. Also in Yaogang, the former site of the East China Bureau, the staff office of the General Front Committee, the confidential room, the secretariat, the logistics office and the former site of the garrison camp are also included in the protection list.
The memorial hall of the former site of the General Front Committee of the Battle of Crossing the River is divided into nine parts: the former site of the General Front Committee, the former site of the Central East China Bureau, the former site of the General Front Committee Staff Office, the former site of the confidential department, the former site of the Secretariat, the former site of the logistics department, the former site of the guard camp, the former site of the hospital and the former site of the Dujiang Ode Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition Hall. There are more than 700 objects and pictures (tables) in the memorial hall, as well as 108 inscriptions by generals and paintings, and 36 inscriptions by party and government leaders.
The former site of the General Front Committee used to be the residence of Wang Jingxian, a student with a title of China in the late Qing Dynasty. It was a quadrangle with two entrances and three exits. There are screen doors, lattice fans, rooms, carved beams and painted buildings in the house, which are simple and elegant. Entering the first room, one is Chen Yi's bedroom in the east and the other is Shu Tong's bedroom in the west, which was the bedroom of the Standing Committee of the East China Bureau, the Minister of Propaganda and the Director of the Political Department of the Military Region at that time. The westernmost room is Liu Bocheng's bedroom, and the wings on both sides are the bedrooms of guards. Erjin Hall is the meeting room of the General Front Committee. The portraits of Mao Zedong and Zhu De are hung on the front screen.
Deng Xiaoping, secretary of the General Front Committee, has a bedroom in the Erjin East Hall. In the room, there is a rack bed used by Deng Xiaoping, a western-style desk and a kerosene lamp. This lamp was given to the landlord by Deng Xiaoping when he left Yaogang. After the Cultural Revolution, the descendants of the landlord donated money, and the lantern was able to meet the tourists again. The west side of the former site of the General Front Committee is next to the former site of the confidential bureau. This is a quadrangle with three entrances and four compartments. It was originally the residence of Wang Jingxian's second brother. After the General Front Committee entered Yaogang, the staff of the confidential bureau once lived and worked here. Walk 50 meters southwest, and you will see the ruins of the air-raid shelter. When the General Front Committee was in Yaogang, the Kuomintang often sent planes to attack this area. The air-raid shelter was dug to prevent air strikes by Kuomintang planes. The air-raid shelter is about 6 meters deep and 60 square meters in space, with a straight circular soil column in the middle.
About 60 meters southeast of the shelter is the site of Tang Dun. The water surface in Tang Dun is not large now. There is a mound in the center of the pond, a pavilion on the pier and a cornice, which is simple and elegant. Visitors can walk from the stone bridge to the gazebo. This used to be a cool place in Wang Jingxian in summer. After the General Front Committee entered Yaogang, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yi and other leaders often played chess and had fun here.
The former site of East China Bureau is located in the northeast of the former site of the General Front Committee. It is a quadrangle with two entrances and two exits. The former site of Yaogang Village of Huazhong East China Bureau above the door? The plaque was inscribed by Wei, the third secretary of the former East China Bureau. Yijin is the office and accommodation of Rao Shushi, then secretary of the East China Bureau, Zhang Dingcheng, member of the Standing Committee of the East China Bureau, and Ceng Shan, director of the Financial and Economic Committee. The second entrance is the meeting room and the office and accommodation of the staff. About 200 meters to the west from the former site of East China Bureau, you can see another quadrangle surrounded by green trees, with small brick walls, which is the former site of the General Front Committee Staff Office. The Staff Office is now an exhibition hall for some precious revolutionary cultural relics during the Battle of Crossing the River and the War of Liberation. All kinds of guns, holsters, axes, newspapers, epaulettes, bedding and daily necessities during the battle of crossing the river and the liberation war are collected and displayed here, as well as memoirs of comrades who worked here and interviews with them by the staff of the memorial hall of the battle of crossing the river.
In the former site of the General Front Committee of the Battle of Crossing the River, there is now a painting and calligraphy exhibition hall called Ode to Crossing the River. Zhang zhen, former vice mayor of chairman of the Central Military Commission, personally wrote an inscription. The exhibition hall is divided into three parts. The first thing I saw was the General Monument Pavilion, which has three rooms. The first room is Marshal Hall, General Hall and General Hall. You can see the original works of 38 generals including Chen Yi, Xu, Nie, Su Yu, Liu Huaqing, Li Desheng, Chi Haotian, etc. The second is the General Hall, and the third is the General Hall. Then there is the inscription hall for party and government cadres, and finally the painting and calligraphy hall. The Painting and Calligraphy Museum displays the works of Shu Tong, Lai Shaoqi, Zou Dezhong, Guo Gongda and other celebrities in the painting and calligraphy circles.
As a historical witness and revolutionary holy land, the memorial hall of the former site of the General Front Committee has become the revolutionary tradition and patriotic education base of dozens of universities such as Nanjing Military Region, Anhui University and Hefei Artillery College.
